Twine is platform similar to UpWork and Fiverr, but with a stronger focus on quality. Founded in 2013 by Damien Shiells & Stuart Loganin, Twine was originally called Clouyd. Clouyd functioned as a consumer-focused place for creatives to sell their wares directly to the public and build a digital portfolio. After struggling to find a market for the first few years, they closed it down and began rebuilding it into Twine.
Twine was launched in 2016 and currently curates a network of over 200,000 freelancers who can showcase their work, highlight contributions they’ve made to other people’s work, and get matched with creative briefs. In April of 2017 they publicly shared different drafts of the pitch decks that they used to raise over $1,000,000 on their blog providing the startup community with insights into the process.
